The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you can’t feel it.
Brownish-red in color, the thyroid is rich with blood vessels. Nerves important for voice quality also pass through the thyroid.
The thyroid secretes several hormones, collectively called thyroid hormones. The main hormone is thyroxine, also called T4. Thyroid hormones act throughout the body, influencing metabolism, growth and development, and body temperature. During infancy and childhood, adequate thyroid hormone is crucial for brain development.
Thyroid Conditions
- Goiter: A general term for thyroid swelling. Goiters can be harmless, or can represent iodine deficiency or a condition associated with thyroid inflammation called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
- Thyroiditis: Inflammation of the thyroid, usually from a viral infection or autoimmune condition. Thyroiditis can be painful, or have no symptoms at all.
- Hyperthyroidism: Excessive thyroid hormone production. Hyperthyroidism is most often caused by Graves disease or an overactive thyroid nodule.
- Hypothyroidism: Low production of thyroid hormone. Thyroid damage caused by autoimmune disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism .
- Graves disease: An autoimmune condition in which the thyroid is overstimulated, causing hyperthyroidism.
- Thyroid cancer: An uncommon form of cancer, thyroid cancer is usually curable. Surgery, radiation, and hormone treatments may be used to treat thyroid cancer.
- Thyroid nodule: A small abnormal mass or lump in the thyroid gland. Thyroid nodules are extremely common. Few are cancerous. They may secrete excess hormones, causing hyperthyroidism, or cause no problems.
- Thyroid storm: A rare form of hyperthyroidism in which extremely high thyroid hormone levels cause severe illness.
I can think of so many people in my life that I know with some type of Thyroid condition. I myself have dealt with Goiter and nodules. The following is a testimony of Greg Heyne and his journey with Plexus and Thyroid Cancer:
My personal Plexus testimony!! Up until recently, I didn’t really want to talk about or even admit I had that big “C” word! I never in a million years thought I would be cursed with it. I did everything right - exercised, ate right, didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, and it still got me. Cancer cost me my thyroid and dozens of lymph nodes in my neck and chest. Loosing that tiny little organ and going thru radiation, greatly impacted how my body felt and according to my family - how I acted. I was told that I would never feel like my old self again, and needed to get comfortable with the new me. I was on thyroid replacement therapy (and will be for the rest of my life) and according to the blood tests, had the correct dosage. But, I still had no energy and my health was declining. I was gaining weight, my BP and cholesterol went up and I was pre-diabetic. I knew it was time to make some changes and my wife went full force in trying to help me get healthy again. She even made me drink what I thought was some girly PINK DRINK! But, it tasted great and was helping me kick my sweet tea addiction, so I didn’t argue. After a few weeks I started feeling better and I had energy to play with my kids. I couldn't believe it, the "pink drink" called PLEXUS SLIM was actually working! Because I no longer have a thyroid and I’m still being monitored to make sure the cancer doesn’t return, I have regular blood work. I started to see gradual improvement over my first several months on the products. Now, my BP, cholesterol and blood sugars are normal again, my thyroid levels are stabilized, and I feel like me again! I have energy and the bonus is that I'm loosing weight . . . and people are noticing! Plexus is changing lives and I look forward to helping others! It’s so much more than a weight loss tool, it helps you get healthy from the inside out. I’ve recently added the ProBio5, BioCleanse, and xFactor and I feel amazing!! It's just too good not to share!! My family will be forever grateful for Heather Rice (and her many Facebook posts) that got our attention and brought it to our family!
This is Cathy Taylor's testimony on Plexus and her Hypothyroidism. I know her personally and let me tell you she is an amazing person with great spirit. She is very passionate about Plexus because it has worked so well for her and made a real impact in her life:
Cathy - 7 1/2 years ago, after my second baby was born, my thyroid quit functioning. I had hypothyroidism so bad that I was having extreme vertigo (to the point of crawling around my house because I couldn't walk), uncontrolled vomiting (thought I had the stomach flu) and extreme fatigue. After getting diagnosed and put on a high dose of levothyroxin, I got my health back under control, but losing weight became extremely difficult for me. After each of my subsequent 3 children (yes, I have 5!), I would have 10 - 15 pounds of baby weight. I would rigorously count calories and exercise HARD 5 - 6 days per week. After several months I would be lucky to lose 5 of the 10 - 15 pounds so I was still net gaining a little after each baby. Eventually I got rid of all my size 6 and size 8 clothing (except one favorite pair of jeans) because I had given up hope. After my 5th baby was born I was completely overwhelmed by the idea of going through all that hard work again and discouraged that it wouldn't make a significant difference anyway. Despite nursing full time, exercising 3 days per week and eating relatively healthy for my meals (I have a major sweet tooth and because I was under so much stress I tended to snack on a lot of sweets in between meals and drink Coke for energy), I GAINED 10 more pounds between my baby's 2 and 4 month appointments. I couldn't fit into anything and had to leave my size 12 jeans unbuttoned at the top. When I saw my neighbor's posts about Plexus and how simple it was to drink one "pink drink" per day, I decided to give it a whirl. After reading up on the ingredients I decided that even if it didn't work, at least it wouldn't be harmful to my body. 4 months later, I am not only fitting into my favorite size 8 jeans, but I even tried on size 6 clothing when I went shopping this past Saturday, which I haven't been able to get into since my pre-baby days 10 years ago! I have great, sustained energy throughout the day, am sleeping like a rock (huge for me because I've always been a really light sleeper) and my moods are much more even (which is great because my kids don't have to deal with such a crazy lady!). Financially, we've been extremely blessed by this business that I can work completely from home, around the needs of my many young children in my PJ pants In our 3rd month we were able to pay our mortgage payment nearly twice with our Plexus earnings. I'm soooooo grateful Jon and I decided to take the plunge!
